Stage and screen star Christina Ricci will play Hermia in the upcoming off-Broadway production of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream at Classic Stage Company. She joins previously announced two-time Tony winner Bebe Neuwith, who will play fair queen Titania. Tony Speciale directs the production, which will begin performances on March 28, 2012 and run through May 6. Additional casting will be announced soon.
Ricci made her Broadway debut in Donald Margulies' Tony-nominated play Time Stands Still opposite Laura Linney, Brian d'Arcy James and Eric Bogosian. Her many film credits include Mermaids, The Addams Family, The Ice Storm, The Opposite of Sex, Buffalo 66, Monster, Black Snake Moan, Sleepy Hollow and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, and she will co-star in an adaptation of Guy de Maupassant's short story Bel Ami opposite Robert Pattinson, Kristin Scott Thomas and Uma Thurman in 2012. She currently stars in the ABC drama Pan Am.
A Midsummer Night’s Dream will be the final production in Classic Stage Company’s 2011-12 season. It follows the currently running production of Anton Chekhov’s The Cherry Orchard, starring Dianne Wiest, and the upcoming Galileo by Bertolt Brecht, which begins performances on February 1, 2012.
